This year, the Oskar-Patzelt-Stiftung awards the “Grand Prize for SME”, which is considered to be Germany’s most coveted business award, for the 25th time. By awarding the prize, the foundation pays tribute to entrepreneurial activity and virtues exclusively in SME companies of all industries. The motto of the year 2019 is: Sustainable Business.
The companies may not nominate themselves, but are proposed by third parties. The selection of winners and finalists will be made by regional juries from a total of 12 competition regions and a final jury. In each region, three companies can be awarded as winners and five others as finalists.
The regional dominance of the nominees in the field of mechanical engineering is strikingly strong. In addition to Mankenberg GmbH and Wache GmbH from Lübeck, Krüger & Salecker Maschinenbau GmbH & Co.KG from Bad Schwartau, VisiConsult X-ray Systems & Solutions GmbH from Stockelsdorf is pleased to announce their nomination. Even if their products could not be more different, these four companies have one in common: Their special sense for what the customer needs to develop tailored special solutions, which leaves nothing to be desired.
Visiconsult X-ray Systems & Solutions GmbH: X-ray inspection for more safety
The company from Stockelsdorf engineers and manufactures high-tech X-ray equipment for non-destructive testing, X-ray based counting systems for electronic components and portable X-ray systems for testing suspicious objects.
The owner-managed family business began in 1966 with a small office in the Technik Center Lübeck, where it developed software for X-ray equipment. Today, the almost 90 employees produce up to 150 machines a year in Stockelsdorf, expressly relying on local suppliers.
With help of the X-ray systems for non-destructive testing, components are examined for material defects or cracks. The high technology equipment from Stockelsdorf automatically detects hidden or structural defects and is used in the aerospace industry, including Boeing and Airbus, and by car manufacturers and their suppliers. Another important pillar for the radiation professionals from Stockelsdorf is the public safety. Bomb de-escalation anti-espionage systems around the world are equipped with portable X-ray systems, and German special forces and federal police use the mobile solutions to inspect suspicious bags and defuse bombs.
Managing director Hajo Schulenburg, highlights: “The nomination is a clear sign for us that we are continuing to develop in a promising direction. We know that besides our strategic approach, this is also due to many advantageous external factors, e.g. the attractive Hansebelt region, the technical and craft-oriented employees and reliable, regional suppliers and partners. As a developer and manufacturer of X-ray systems, we are confident about the finale.”
