Subcommittee “Interfaces” of DGZfP visits VisiConsult

The German Society for nondestructive material testing (DGZfP) invited its subcommittee “Interfaces” for two days (February 19.-20.) to come to Stockelsdorf to VisiConsult.

The DGZfP is the world’s oldest society for nondestructive material testing. The DGZfP organizes sponsorships in science and research and offers communication between these pressure groups. The subcommittee “Interfaces, documentation, data safety, storage and filing” is part of the new Committee ZfP 4.0 and came together at VisiConsult for two days in February for the fourth meeting.
VisiConsult’s Dr. Frank Herold (Head of Application) gave the visitors a warm welcome.

The central topic of the meeting (on both days) was a standardized method for exchanging data. This method is called OPC Unified Architecture. Individual people of the subcommittee agreed to work actively forming a joint working group of OPC foundation and the VDMA (German Association of Machine manufacturers). This joint working group will act on behalf of the DGZfP and will work on an OPC companion specification for the area of ZfP. This specification is supposed to further enhance the 4.0 concept.
However, other topics like DICONDE and alternatives were discussed together, too.

In addition, there was a tour of the production halls of VisiConsult. VisiConsult is a manufacturer of X-ray machines and was awarded the title of “world market leader” by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) a few days ago.
Dr. Frank Herold is content with the results of the meeting. He states: “We have accomplished a lot to further develop the topic of ZfP 4.0. This is a confirmation for VisiConsult on how important it is to participate in such groups and to welcome them here in our company.”
