Stockelsdorf, September 4, 2026. VisiConsult X-ray Systems & Solutions today celebrated the expansion of its operations in Stockelsdorf with a ceremony marking both the topping-out of the new building and the presentation of a funding grant. The machinery engineering and software company is investing around €14 million in the new facility, the vast majority of which is being financed from its own funds. Schleswig-Holstein’s Minister for Economic Affairs, Claus Ruhe Madsen, presented the company with a funding approval for just over €1.3 million from the Landesprogramm Wirtschaft (State Economic Development Program). Through this program, the state uses EU funds to specifically support investments by small and medium-sized enterprises, strengthening the regional economy and securing jobs.

The new company facility at Segeberger Straße 96b will provide around 90 additional office workstations as well as more than 2,000 square meters of new production and workshop space, just a few hundred meters from the current headquarters on Brandenbrooker Weg. Completion of the building is scheduled for the third quarter of 2027, with the move planned for the fourth quarter.

CEO Lennart Schulenburg explains: “For us, the new building is about much more than additional space. We were founded in Lübeck 30 years ago, and since 2010 Stockelsdorf, with our current headquarters on Brandenbrooker Weg, has been our home. With this investment, we are demonstrating our continued commitment to this location in the Lübeck region and our confidence that we can continue to grow successfully from here. From the very beginning, we have found a reliable partner in the municipality of Stockelsdorf that has supported our construction project. The funding provided by the state of Schleswig-Holstein was also an important component for us; without it, we would not have been able to undertake this project on this scale and within this timeframe.”

Minister for Economic Affairs Madsen described the investment as an “extremely positive signal for Schleswig-Holstein as a business location as a whole.” The company’s further expansion, he said, would not only increase production capacity, but also strengthen future developments in customized X-ray inspection systems for new customers and create high-quality jobs. “This is an excellent use of the funding,” Madsen said.

“After around ten years of intensive discussions about various development options, I am delighted that VisiConsult has repeatedly made a conscious decision in favor of Stockelsdorf and, with this new building, is making a clear commitment to our municipality as a business location. Particularly in a smaller municipality, communication channels are short: we have always been able to coordinate quickly and straightforwardly and find good solutions together. The topping-out ceremony and the presentation of the funding approval therefore mark an important milestone – for VisiConsult, but also for Stockelsdorf as a business location,” said Mayor Julia Samtleben.

The event coincided with another milestone in the company’s history: VisiConsult was founded by Hajo Schulenburg in September 1996, 30 years ago. Today, his two eldest sons, Lennart and Finn Schulenburg, lead VisiConsult GmbH – now a global market leader in industrial X-ray technology. Customers worldwide, primarily from the aerospace, defense, automotive, energy and electronics industries, rely on the high-tech systems, software solutions and inspection services developed in Stockelsdorf. They use them for non-destructive testing and thus for the mission-critical quality assurance of their components and materials.

With additional locations and subsidiaries in Germany, India and the United States, the group now employs more than 300 people, over 200 of them in Stockelsdorf. In 2025 alone, more than 70 new colleagues joined the company, with more than 40 additional employees joining so far in 2026. The company has also multiplied in size economically over this period: revenue increased from around €4 million in 2014 to more than €50 million in 2024.

CEO Lennart Schulenburg explains the company’s successful growth trajectory: “Manufacturers and buyers of safety-critical components around the world are under pressure to invest heavily in their quality management. In other words, the market is there – but of course, we are not the only provider. Some of our competitors are large corporations that, at first glance, may be perceived as having greater resources and professionalism than a family-owned company from Ostholstein. Yet companies’ ability to thrive in the future has always depended on their openness to modern technology and their ability to integrate it into their day-to-day operations at an early stage. This is precisely where VisiConsult is strongly positioned: we not only incorporate digitalization, automation and artificial intelligence into the solutions we provide to our customers, but also use them in our own processes. And because our focus is not on the machine, but on the customer and their specific needs, we can not only respond more flexibly than many large corporations – our customers also simply feel better looked after by us.”
